Pre-conference Summits: Separately Bookable - CET (Central European Time, GMT+01:00)
This presentation highlights the Distillers Technology Council's (DTC) ongoing adaptation to the evolving distillers’ spirits, ethanol, and biorefinery industries. The DTC (formerly Distillers Grains Technology Council) has been key in promoting collaboration, sharing information, and advancing distillers’ coproduct research since its inception. It now focuses on innovation, analytical testing methodology and sustainability challenges facing the industry.
The presentation discusses DTC's renewed focus on distillers’ coproduct testing methodologies, industry collaboration, and environmental concerns. It also emphasizes the Council's role in fostering dialogue and knowledge exchange, addressing challenges like optimizing production, ensuring quality and safety, and navigating regulations. DTC’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements is evident, as it aims to foster resilience and innovation amid industry disruptions. As DTC continues to evolve, this presentation invites participants to appreciate the Council's proactive approach in addressing current issues and its significant role in driving progress and collaboration in the distilling and ethanol/ biorefinery sectors.

Plants are always associated with populations of mostly beneficial microbes (the phytomicobiome) that improve plant growth and productivity. These microbes and the associated plants communicate with each other through exchange of signal compounds and we have been able to show that the microbe-to-plant signal compounds activate elements of the plant that improve resiliance to a range of stresses (including those associated with climate change, leading to enhanced CO2 uptake and the accumulation of biomass that can be used to sequester carbon into soils or produce biofuels.
