Sebastian Hirsz is responsible for bp’s mobility policies globally – developing its transport energy positions and lead advisor to the group on key topics including sustainable fuels, EV charging, and hydrogen. Seb’s remit is cross-modal and sectoral by design to help ensure bp takes a holistic approach to its energy decarbonisation activity.
Seb previously led the UK downstream industry's engagement with the UK government on energy transition policy, including the development of the low carbon hydrogen business model, bioenergy strategy, and deployment of E10 gasoline. He also has detailed understanding of standards development, having been responsible for the industry's representation to standards organisations on liquid and gaseous fuels and EV charging.
A chemist by training, Seb has developed formulated products for ICE and battery systems from retail to Formula 1 with first-hand experience of delivering fuel products from concept to market. Seb is fascinated by the science behind mobility and enjoys applying this understanding to help deliver a more sustainable transport system.
