Dr. Juan C. Almagro is an expert in the fields of antibody engineering and development of biologic therapeutics, with 30 years of experience in the Pharma/Biotech Industry and academic settings. In the Pharma/Biotech industry occupied positions of Sr. Director at Pfizer, and Scientific Director and Head of Antibody Design at Johnson & Johnson. In academia, was Visiting Scientist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Invited Professor at Simon Fraser University, Associate Professor at The National University of Mexico and Professor at National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico.

Supported in part by the National Science Foundation (NSF) founded GlobalBio, Inc. to develop and apply novel protein engineering methods to antibody therapeutic development. Based on these methods, have signed and executed numerous contracts with startups, clinical-stage biotechnology companies and large biopharmaceutical organizations to discover, optimize and develop antibody-based therapeutics with application in Immuno-Oncology, Oncology and Infectious Diseases.

Author of 100 publications including 57 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 8 book chapters and 35 patents, with h-index of 33 and i10-index of 53 in Google Scholar. Review editor for Frontiers in Immunology and regular reviewer for Immunology, Bioinformatics and Protein Engineering journals, as well as for grant agencies in several countries. Chaired and have given talks and lectures at major domestic and international scientific meetings.
