Kemal Sonmez is a Senior Applied AI Scientist in Life Sciences at Amazon Web Services (AWS), specializing in machine learning (ML) for therapeutic development. He previously led computational biology and ML teams at SRI International and served as Associate Professor at OHSU. Dr. Sonmez co-founded datma, a multimodal medical data integration platform enabling federated learning for AI applications. He holds a PhD from the University of Maryland, where he is a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient. His current work focuses building applied AI solutions to help pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers accelerate antibody discovery and optimization.
