Taku SATO has been Director of Overseas Business Development in charge of Healthcare industry, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) since APR 2023. He is in charge of supporting Japanese startups focusing on biotech, medical device and aging related devices and services, to expand their business to overseas market. His earlier appointments include Director, Regional Investment division(2021-2023) AND Chief Director, JETRO Chiba(2018-2021) AND Director, healthcare industries division (2015- 2018) in charge of supporting Japanese startups focusing on biotech, medical device and aging related devices and services, to expand their business to overseas market AND Director, Invest Japan Business Support Center (2010-2012) in charge of supporting overseas companies to expand their business in Japan at JETRO Headquarters AND Director in charge of business development at JETRO New York (2007-2010) After joining JETRO in 1993, he has devoted over ten years of his career to the promotion of trade and investment in the Life Science field among countries, utilizing knowledge, experience and network he has built among the Life Science industry across the countries; Organized the Japan pavilion in the “BIO Annual International Convention” in the U.S. and the “Bio-Europe” in Europe, and the international biotech business symposium, networking and business meetings, “JETRO BIOLINK FORUM” in Japan. Promoted ”INVEST JAPAN” project in JETRO New York and Headquarters. He is a frequent speaker on the business development in the life science field at universities, trade groups and various seminars both in Japan and U.S; Bio Innovation Organization (BIO), Massachusetts Medical Device Association (MassMedic), MEDICA, UC Irvin, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Hosei University, Chiba University, Ryutsu Keizai University and so on. He has been commissioned Visiting professor in Chiba University, Visiting Researcher of the Research Institute for Innovation Management (Riim) and Fellow of GIS Global Leadership Initiative in Hosei University, Visiting lecturer in Ryutsu Keizai University, Lecturer in Soca University, Committee member in Chiba bio-lifescience network, Advisor in Chiba Health & Medical industry support committee and so on. He graduated from Hosei University, Master of Business Administration in 2005 and Tokyo University for Foreign Studies, Bachelor of Arts in 1995.
