Protea nanotechnology was invented at the National University of Singapore in collaboration with the Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. In the 2024 QS Global rankings, MIT holds a #1 ranking and NUS a ranking of #8. The project is supported by the National Research Fund (Singapore Prime Minister’s Office) and the National Medical Research Council from the Singapore (Singapore Ministry of Health). Project Protea has, to date, raised over 5 million USD of research and commercialization funds and is currently partnered with multiple academic and commercial partners.
