Hossein is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alberta, Structures Group. With extensive experience in both academia and industry, Hossein specializes in building resiliency and sustainable design. His primary research focuses on developing resilient and sustainable hybrid mass timber structural systems. Hossein is currently spearheading projects that integrate mass timber panels into building foundations and enhance lateral load-resisting systems in tall mass timber structures. These initiatives aim to improve the carbon storage potential of structural elements, promote eco-friendly construction practices, and address environmental and structural challenges in contemporary engineering. |
