Attendees will gain direct insight into practical strategies for integrating sustainable technologies into upcoming design, construction, and retrofit projects. Whether you are a commercial developer, general contractor, architect, or asset manager, this session provides a direct bridge to the innovations transforming Canada's net-zero supply chain.

SSRIA Business Growth Program - Smart Sustainable Tech Showcase

The Showcase format has been created in response to market demand for opportunities to see new technologies and solutions quickly, efficiently and with commentary from respected industry peers.

Purpose of the showcase:

  • Highlight new technologies, innovations and/or processes driving Alberta’s transition to a zero-carbon built environment
  • Break down barriers to the adoption of new solutions
  • Demystify technological advancements
  • Support the advancement of Western Canada’s building industry towards sustainability, commercial and productivity targets

Types of technologies featured:

  • High-Performance Building Envelopes: Solutions like advanced insulation systems and mass timber foundations that enhance energy efficiency and reduce embodied carbon.
  • Smart Building Systems: Technologies such as machine-learning-driven ventilation controls, IoT monitoring systems, and smart switches for optimized energy use.
  • Renewable and Low-Carbon Energy Solutions: Innovations including sewer heat recovery, earth-tubes, and hybrid panelized retrofit systems designed to lower operational carbon emissions in new and existing buildings.

Innovation showcase format:

  • 5-minute “micro-presentations” delivered live by each innovator company
  • Cross-examination and questioning from a panel of industry experts
  • Expert panel and industry audience vote for their favourite solution

Pamela Goertzen, Executive Director, SSRIA

Director of SSRIA, where she has successfully instituted a wide range of programs and initiatives designed to advance the organization’s mission of promoting low-carbon building solutions. Her strategic leadership and unwavering commitment to forging meaningful partnerships have played a pivotal role in SSRIA’s growth and its positive impact on both the environment and the economy in Alberta.

Over the past two decades, Pam has demonstrated her dedication to the development and management of energy efficiency and social change programs in Alberta. Her career highlights include a senior position at Summerhill, where she oversaw the implementation and marketing of residential energy efficiency programs on behalf of Energy Efficiency Alberta. Prior to that, she spent 14 years at C3 (formerly Climate Change Central), where she contributed to the development and delivery of energy efficiency programs to Alberta homeowners and businesses.

Pam’s educational background includes a Business Diploma with a specialization in marketing and a Bachelor of Management. These qualifications have equipped her with the necessary skills to effectively communicate sustainability initiatives, exercise financial due diligence required for nonprofit organizations, and lead the growth of a burgeoning organization.
