Jim’s role is the Principal Energy Innovator with Stantec in North America. With 30 years’ practical engineering and renewables experience, Jim delivers solutions on energy and climate challenging projects that set a new standard for efficiency and financial returns. His passion for sustainable applications covers a wide range of technologies, including waste heat recovery, solar photovoltaic thermal, thermal energy storage, demand side management, geo-exchange, and microgrid controls.

As a specialist in geo-exchange and energy storage designs, Jim has contributed to the International Energy Agency standards as well as Canadian standards for geo-exchange design. Jim also participates in research in solar PV/Thermal, geoexchange, phase change material storage, and low carbon buildings and systems. Jim’s current concentration is in decarbonization, climate adaptation, and climate mitigation are Jim’s current focus
