Melanie Ross (BArchSc) joined SAIT’s Green Building Technologies (GBT) team in 2019 as the Research and Business Administration Manager within Applied Research and Innovation Services. She is responsible for overseeing research activities within the 9000-square-foot GBT Lab and Demonstration Centre, a Tech Access Canada funded initiative since 2013, and opened on SAIT campus in June 2017, becoming the first net-zero commercial building in Calgary that sets a new standard for net-zero energy and net-zero water design and construction.

Melanie brings more than 14 years of experience with recognized architecture, planning, and engineering firms to her role as the GBT team lead in addition to her experience in marketing and communications. She has an extensive background in delivering many projects ranging from LEED, LBC, and other third-party certifications to energy management, existing building performance, and innovative technologies, as well as sustainability planning and policy development, and architectural design and construction.
