Alexandre Gonthier is a Swiss tech founder, entrepreneur, investor, and digital payments expert based in San Francisco, California. Alex has more than 25 years of experience in financial technology. Currently, he serves as the Founder & CEO of Trustly, Inc. Before that, he founded and/or led other successful Fintechs including iPIN (acquired by Intel Corp.), Paymo (now Boku, LON: Boku), TicketScript (now Eventbrite, NYSE: EB), and Open Banking pioneer, eWise. He has six company exits on his track record, including three initial public offerings (IPOs).

In 2001, Alex invented and launched the world’s first Open Banking Payments service with HSBC in Hong Kong. In 2011, he founded PayWithMyBank to bring similar Pay-by-bank capabilities to the United States. In 2019, PayWithMyBank merged with Trustly to accelerate its international expansion. Since then, Alex has been focused on building a global digital payments platform that connects consumers with merchants via account-to-account payments, giving both an unparalleled payment experience.
