John Kiriakou is a 14-year veteran of the CIA's Counterterrorism Center, where he worked first as an analyst and then as a counterterrorism case officer. The first U.S. government official to publicly confirm the CIA's use of waterboarding as torture, he was prosecuted under the Espionage Act and imprisoned in 2013. He is the author of 10 books, including The Reluctant Spy, and Doing Time Like a Spy, and is a recipient of the Joe A. Callaway Award for Civic Courage, the prestigious PEN Center USA First Amendment Award, and the Sam Adams Award for Bravery in the Public Discourse, an award given by retired CIA, FBI, and NSA officers. John is the host of John Kiriakou’s Briefing Room podcast.
