Algorithmic trading is widely used, but AI cannot predict the market because it relies on past events to analyse the future. Like poker, the markets—and especially their future movements—cannot be predicted with certainty. AI can use stochastic models and standard deviations to estimate probabilities, but recent history has shown that a single vote or event can render all these predictions worthless.
