Belal Tassi (“BT”) is a recognized expert in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT), Information Management, Data Security and Governance, and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). BT has held many positions in the global Information Management Division of IBM since 1997, including Software Development Lead, IBM Appliance Architect, Global Technical Sales Leader, and Worldwide Technical Evangelist. He pioneered many key technologies at IBM, including multiple inventions that were filled as patents in the USA and Canada. For example, he designed the automated data warehouse deployment system that was the method adopted by IBM Global Services to deploy its IBM Balanced Warehouses (Hardware, Software, Storage, Network) worldwide. BT has authored many publications including over 20 books and articles on IBM Information Technology, IBM Automation Technology, and lead author of “DB2 Best Practices: Security” and the “IBM Data Server Security Blueprint”. He has been a featured speaker at industry conferences all over the world and worked closely with many of the largest multinational corporations across multiple industry sectors, including some of the world’s largest financial institutions. He received his bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer Science from Western University, and his master’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Waterloo.
