Sang Taek Jung, PhDAssociate Professor at Seoul National UniversitySpeaker
Profile
Dr. Sang Taek Jung is a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Seoul National University. His research explores the fundamental interactions among antibodies, immune receptors, and soluble ligands by integrating protein science, protein evolution, and engineering principles. His group develops innovative platforms for antibody discovery, engineers therapeutic proteins for enhanced efficacy, safety, and serum persistence, and expands antibody-based therapeutic modalities through bispecific antibodies, antibody–drug conjugates, and other next-generation immunotherapeutics. Dr. Jung received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Seoul National University. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he spent 5.5 years in the biopharmaceutical industry at Green Cross Corporation and Samyang Genex. He subsequently earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin under the supervision of Professor George Georgiou and conducted postdoctoral research with Professor Frances H. Arnold at Caltech. Before joining Seoul National University in 2024, he served on the faculties of Kookmin University and subsequently Korea University. He has published more than 75 peer-reviewed articles and is an inventor on more than 300 domestic and international patent applications and granted patents. Since 2018, 13 technologies have been transferred to 11 companies, with an aggregate deal value exceeding US$90 million. His contributions to technology commercialization were recognized with a Ministerial Commendation from the Korean Ministry of Science and ICT.
