Sarah Hymowitz joined The Column Group since 2021. She helps start and support small biotech companies focused on drug discovery. She works with internal and external colleagues to identify potentially transformative opportunities for company creation and investment opportunities and serves as a member of the Board of Directors or Scientific Advisory Board of several companies. Previously she had a variety of roles at Genentech rising to Vice President of Protein Sciences. In this role, she oversaw the large molecule drug discovery portfolio, was a member of the Research leadership team and led the departments of Antibody Engineering, Protein Chemistry, Structural Biology, Proteomics and Research Software Engineering. Earlier in her career, she led or participated in antibody and small-molecule based project teams that advanced multiple molecules to the clinic. She enjoys mentoring teams on the identification and optimization of clinical candidates.
