Yi Shi, PhD, is a Professor of Pharmacological Sciences at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Director of the Center for Protein Engineering and Therapeutics. His research integrates proteomics, structural biology, protein engineering, and artificial intelligence to discover and engineer next-generation nanobody therapeutics. His laboratory has developed proteomics-based platforms for large-scale nanobody discovery and AI-enabled approaches for defining molecular recognition and engineering multispecific biologics. Current work focuses on using nanobodies as compact, programmable targeting modules for receptor-selective internalization and targeted delivery, with emerging applications to peptide and oligonucleotide therapeutics. His group aims to bridge molecular recognition, multispecific protein engineering, and payload delivery to create more selective and effective therapeutic modalities.
