Anna-Pia Papageorgiou obtained her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Pharmacology and Immunology from University College London and Imperial College (UK) before pursuing a PhD at the KULeuven (Belgium). She spent 16 years conducting academic research in the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands and was Assistant Professor at the University of Maastricht in the field of molecular cardiology before joining DG Research and Innovation of the European Commission in 2017 as a policy officer. Her policy work focuses on Research and Innovation aspects of Biotechnology, Advanced Therapies Medicinal Products, Regenerative Medicine and Innovation Procurement.
