Cormac Sheridan has woven a thirty-year (and counting) career as a science journalist from an initial fascination with understanding life at a molecular level. He has been a regular contributor to Nature Biotechnology for over 20 years, was a correspondent with BioWorld for over 25 years, and his work has appeared in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, The Scientist, Scientific American, and New Scientist, among other national and international publications. He has interviewed numerous Nobel prizewinners, Fortune
500 CEOs and global investors. His work has been cited by the Obama Administration, McKinsey & Co., and by the Pulitzer prize winner and author Siddhartha Mukherjee. Beyond journalism, he has lectured on media for the B.Sc. Genetics program at University College Cork (UCC) for the past 20 years. His expertise extends to speechwriting, editorial consultancy, and science communication training. In 2017, he contributed to the book Little Country, Big Talk – Science Communication in Ireland. Cormac holds a B.Sc. in Microbiology from UCC and an M.A. in Journalism from Dublin City University. He is the pro bono administrator of the Mary Mulvihill Award, Ireland’s leading science media competition for third-level students. In a previous life he was a professional theatre lighting designer.
