Pre-Event Steps

Prepare your pitch

  • Pitches are strictly limited to 6 minutes
  • Only one person from each company is allowed on stage to pitch
  • You will be allowed to display up to 10 PowerPoint slides total:
    • o Slide 1: Cover Page
    • o Slides 2 - 10: Content related to your pitch
  • Presentations must prepared in PowerPoint. If your presentation was prepared on an Apple Mac, please take extra care when reviewing at the speaker check-in room before your scheduled presentation time.
  • All presenters should bring a backup copy of your presentation with you to the conference on a flash drive.
    • NOTE: all presentations should be titled with your company name

Attend your 1:1 Consultation with Simon Fagg

  • EBD would like offer all the finalists one 30 minute 1:1 pitch training consultation onsite with Simon Fag who is an expert L&D consultant and facilitator and founder of Wish Leadership which delivers a series of leadership conferences and activities for delegates.
  • Your consultation timeslot was sent to you via email.
  • Previous presenters consistently report significant benefits from these personalized coaching opportunities. Simon provides immediate feedback and practical pointers to enhance your delivery.
  • As an added advantage, these sessions take place in the main program room—the same venue as the competition—giving you the perfect opportunity to preview exactly how your slides will appear on competition day.

COMPETITION DAY

Please read through the below information to make sure you are prepared once you arrive onsite in Vienna

Stop at the "Speaker check-in room" on Monday, 3 November

  • Please be advised that all presenters are required to check in with the A/V team in the "Speaker check-in room" on Monday, 3 November
  • This is for you to ensure your presentation will display correctly on our servers
  • Please note: absolutely no changes can be made to your slides after 10:00am on Tuesday, 4 November


Presentation Details

- A moderator will introduce each presenter to deliver their pitch

- Pitches will occur consecutively, followed by a feedback session where judges will ask questions and provide comments

- There will be a countdown clock in the room to help you track your time

- A conference monitor on the floor in front of the podium will display your presentation slides

- No screen will display PowerPoint notes, so prepare notes on your personal notepad if needed

- You will present onstage at a lectern equipped with a microphone (no lapel microphones)

- A handheld microphone will also be available

- A clicker will be provided to advance slides (green arrow advances, red arrow reverses, with laser pointer)

- The overall winner will be announced at the end of the competition


WHERE?

  • The competition will take place in Room 2 on Tuesday, 4 November 2025 15:30 - 17:30
  • Please arrive to the room at 15:15 and sit at the front of the room in the reserved seating section

The judges will be evaluating your pitches on the below criteria:

        Business Model / Strategy- The company provides a clear and persuasive strategy and timeline to run the business in addition to realistic financial considerations. (1-5)

•            Scientific Evidence- Company demonstrated sound scientific evidence of product efficacy(1-5)

•            Differentiation / Level of Innovation- The company is pursuing an innovative product / transformative approach and have a clear point of differentiation from competitors.(1-5)

•            Impact / Market Opportunity- The potential impact is clear and tangible, the company understands the market and have demonstrated perceived growth/ commercialization potential.(1-5)
