David Ewing Duncan is an award-winning journalist covering life science, technology, AI, politics, and culture in print, television, and radio—and a best-selling author of 12 books published in 21 languages. David writes for Vanity Fair, Scientific American, Atlantic, The New York Times, Wired, and many others. He is a former producer and correspondent for ABC Nightline and 20/20, and for NPR’s Morning Edition. He was the longtime Chief Correspondent of NPR Talk’s Tech Nation. David is the Creative Director of Cure Experience in New York City, and the Co-Founder and CEO of Arc Fusion, which holds unique events around the world on major life science topics for top leaders. His latest book is Microland: The Future of Life on Earth (and why it’s smaller than you think) (LittleBrownUK and Harvard U Press)—which in part is about how climate change and human activity is altering the microbiome of Earth that connects all life. Other books include Talking to Robots: Tales from Our Human-Robot Futures (Dutton) and the bestsellers Experimental Man and Calendar. He was a Health Entrepreneur in Residence at IDEO. David gives frequent talks on health, biotech, bio-business, and AI, and often appears in major media. He is an entrepreneur and researcher in personal and molecular health data and has co-founded three companies. David was the founding director of the Center for Life Science Policy at UC Berkeley. He has won the AAAS Magazine Story of the Year and has been nominated for a National Magazine Award three times.
