I am a research scientist at Stanford University, working in Neuro and Bio- Behavioral Science. I am considered an authority in digital medicine and medical virtual reality technology - I've been active in the field for more than 35 years. I'm proud of the products my colleagues and I have developed and brought to market.

Research Focus: My current research focus is on developing digital health and clinical products, specifically applying biometric measurements, virtual reality technology, and AI analytics to address difficult problems in behavioral and physical medicine.

Academic Positions: I am an advisor to Stanford University’s Virtual Human Interaction Lab, the Stanford University Wearable Electronics (eWear) Program, the Virtual Reality & Immersive Technology (VR-IT) Clinic at Stanford, and the Stanford Medical Mixed Reality Center. I previously served as the Director of the Mind Division Stanford Center on Longevity, focusing on age-related changes in cognition.

Medical Product Development: I have designed and developed numerous clinical systems over the last thirty-five years, including products in the fields of surgical simulation, 3D medical visualization, telerehabilitation, clinical informatics, clinical decision support, point-of-care clinical data collection, ergonomic evaluation technology, automatic sleep-staging systems, psychophysiological assessment, and simulation-assisted rehabilitation technologies, as well as digital eHealth products for behavioral medicine.

I am the technology and neuroscience advisor to several medical product companies, including Fundamental VR, Ellipsis Health, Realized Care, Bottneuro, DopaVision, FireFlyVR, HarmonEyes, Lucid Reality, Healium, MOBIO Interactive, Mursion, Mynd Immersive, Neo Auvra, OramaVR, Tripp, ViewMind, VirtuaLeap, and Ubiquity VX. I also advise several venture investment firms regarding digital health systems.

Academic Leadership: I am the founding Board Chair for the International Virtual Reality Health Association (IVRHA). I have been the Principal Investigator for research projects funded by the NIH and NASA.

Corporate Management: I was the founding Chief Science Officer for Pear Therapeutics, a pioneering company in SaMD. I also served as Senior Vice President of Strategic & Corp. Affairs to MindMaze, and I am currently advising Interaxon as Chief Science Officer.
