Prefabricated construction is not new to Canada. The sector employs ~184,800 workers, generates nearly $90 billion in revenue annually, and is projected to grow 4.4% through 2029.

As Canada's built environment faces slow productivity gains, build quality shortfalls, an affordable housing crisis, volatile costs, and uncooperative weather, a new urgency and interest in prefabricated solution has arisen.

BUILDEX Offsite is formed in response to keen industry interest and a dedication to advancing Western Canada’s built environment.

Mass timber and wood-based prefabrication

Two thirds of Canadian prefab facilities predominately use wood based technologies. WoodWorks at BUILDEX, a collaboration between BUILDEX and Canadian Wood Council, provides an exceptional opportunity for all professionals of the built environment to immerse themselves in the latest innovations in wood-based design and construction.
