Charling Li is a Green Building Engineer in the Sustainability Branch of the City of Vancouver which is situated on the unceded traditional territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples. Charling has 16 years of experience in engineering, planning, and research in sustainable urban development. She is passionate about centering equity and resilience principles in her current role in policy and code development to advance low carbon and climate resilient buildings. Prior to joining the City of Vancouver, Charling worked in the consulting, academia and ENGO sectors. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a Master’s degree in Urban Studies from Simon Fraser University.
