Chief Human Resources Officer at Al Zahra Hospital Dubai


Christopher Jacob (CJ) serves as Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) for Al Zahra Hospital Dubai. In his current role, Mr. Jacob is responsible for leading the overall human resources strategy, global clinical and non-clinical talent acquisition, leadership development, organizational diversity & design, compensation & benefits, HR operations, credentialing & licensing, employee & government relations, and HR technology. As CHRO, he has been instrumental transforming and changing the HR function, culture, and impact of HR as a business partnering provider across the company to support its business goals and strategies as well as the needs and aspirations of its 1,100 employees in the UAE. He has worked with all the leaders across AZHD’s business units to transform, build and manage an HR organization that reflects and supports their dynamic needs. While Mr. Jacob has been the CHRO, AZHD has grown its employee population by almost 500 people during the 15-month period at the height of the pandemic. He has overseen efforts that have resulted in: - more effective and streamlined company-wide talent acquisition and talent management practices that better utilize technology. - a company-wide diversity and inclusion strategy, including initiatives to improve diversity at the executive level, recruited 90% of all C-Suite Executives and HODs. - initiated an across-the-board harmonized compensation and benefits program across the organization to address the dynamic inflation in the healthcare industry due to the C19 pandemic. - promoted efficient internal movement of talent; and more thoughtful, comprehensive talent management and talent development programs. - introduced wellness and well being programs such as Sportsfest, monthly Birthday Bash, in-house counseling, and coaching programs, family socials thru in-house movie nights, Yoga and Zumba sessions among others. One of CJ’s major contributions as CHRO has been opening an important dialogue between Management and its employees through a comprehensive quarterly Grand Staff Meeting that engages employees at all levels and serves as the foundation for future change and progress of AZHD. In addition, he has led the transformation of AZHD’s organizational structure to focus on the conversion, merger, and clustering of departments to create clinical centers of excellences and shared services, as well as clinical segment-specific support teams to contribute to the company’s growing patient centered services. Over the last 28 years, he has taken on positions of increasing responsibility apart from healthcare, majorly in different manufacturing, engineering, consulting, FMCG fortune 500 companies in the Philippines, Japan, Saudi and UAE. CJ has been recognized in different occasions, having been Almarai’s 2007 Outstanding Performance Awardee, Capital Health’s 2020 HR Commissioning Awardee & most recently the prestigious 2021 World Medical Council Awardee for Excellence in HR Professional Services (Healthcare GCC Chapter). Mr. Jacob holds a BA degree in Human Resources Management from the De La Salle University in Manila, Philippines, and a Master's in Management Technology M.B.A. from the same University.
