With nearly 20 years in financial services, Wasim Mushtaq turns strategy into measurable outcomes across global banks and fintechs. He is Founder of 1CG, Strategic Partner to Birdie, and an Advisory Board Member at BankAbility and the Operational Excellence Society.

He began at Abbey National, then led LIBOR lending teams at RBS. At Barclays Wealth Management, he was VP and Head of Credit Operations, helped launch Smart Investor, and advised the CIO office on platform delivery, system decommissioning, and operating-model reform. In fintech, he launched CBILS with the British Business Bank and developed SME green finance initiatives. At Standard Chartered, he led transformation across 45 regulatory markets and oversaw a material outsourcing programme.

Most recently, he served as founding COO at CFIT, strengthening governance, finance, technology, operations, and strategic delivery.

Wasim holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Glasgow and executive certificates from Oxford Saïd and MIT Sloan.
