Val SylajPresident / Business Development Manager at Canadian Precast / Prestressed Concrete InstituteSpeaker
Profile
Val is president of the Canadian Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (CPCI). Val leads the institute in developing technical publications, Design Manuals, and Best Practice guides. He oversees the institute’s research activities and provides technical support to clients and members. Val received his Ph.D. from the Department of Civil Engineering at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. Most of his research was focused on designing and experimentally investigating the structural performance of precast concrete insulated walls using high-strength materials such as ultra-high-performance concrete and high-strength synthetic reinforcement. He has also studied the benefits of using commercially available pultruded polymer shapes as stay-in-place formwork in concrete walls.
