José Ramón Freire is an Industrial Engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, specialized in Energy Technologies, and holds several master’s degrees in the fields of energy, finance and management.
He is currently Director General of the Spanish Bioethanol Association and of the Spanish Renewable Ammonia Association (AEAR), as well as Secretary General of the Spanish Association of Foreign Trade in Cereals and Related Products (AECEC).
He began his professional career as a consultant at Andersen Consulting and has subsequently held senior management, chairmanship and board positions in companies operating in cogeneration, waste treatment and biomass. In recent years, a significant part of his career has focused on energy and sustainable mobility, serving as Director of Mobility Solutions at Gas Natural Fenosa, Director of Renewable Gas at Naturgy, and Founding President of the Asociación Española del Gas Natural para la Movilidad (GASNAM). He has served on the boards of NGVA Europe, Cogen España and ACOGEN, as well as the Cámara de Comercio de Salamanca, and has been actively involved in several national sectoral associations.
