Jennifer Cochran is the Shriram Chair and Professor of Bioengineering, and (by courtesy) of Chemical Engineering at Stanford University. Her research interests include protein-based drug discovery and development for applications in oncology and regenerative medicine. She is passionate about translating basic science discoveries from bench to beside; several of the designer proteins created in her lab are at various stages of commercialization and clinical translation. While on leave from Stanford from 2015-2017, Dr. Cochran co-founded and served in the role of Chief Scientific Officer at Lagunita Biosciences, a healthcare investment company and incubator that creates and grows early stage companies to commercialize impactful translational science. During this time, she co-founded several biotech companies, including xCella Biosciences and Nodus Therapeutics, and has served in various executive roles in these organizations.
