Elena Fernandez-Kleinlein is Head of JLABS EMEA at the Johnson & Johnson Innovation Centre based in London. In this capacity, Elena is responsible for delivering on the goals and objectives for JLABS EMEA. Her responsibilities include P&L management, external engagement, innovation sourcing, company onboarding, portfolio management, operational excellence and educational programming in collaboration with the team responsible for the site and the region. She supports and catalyses the translation of science and technology into valuable solutions for patients and consumers across Pharma and MedTech.

She works with start-up companies by helping them de-risk, co-create and scale up their value proposition and supporting them in their commercialization. She is actively involved in building relationships with accelerators, incubators and VC’s across the EMEA region and manages external partnerships and collaborations. Elena is a passionate people leader and provides mentorship and coaching to entrepreneurs.

Elena has grown within the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, previously holding roles of Senior Director R&D Wound Care, performing as the Worldwide R&D Director Women’s Health and Baby Franchise located in USA and Germany respectively. These positions have provided her an in-depth knowledge across different Businesses as well as launch & commercialization experience of different technology platforms and product categories.

Elena holds a BS and MS in Food Science & Technology from Technical University Munich, Germany.
