Giovanni Pugliese holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Rome, specializing in international politics. A career diplomat since 1988, he has served in key postings in Beijing, Geneva, Brussels, New York, and Berlin, working across multilateral affairs, disarmament, EU relations, and UN diplomacy. He served in particular as Deputy Head of Mission in Germany and Ambassador Coreper I in Brussels. He has also been Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister of Economic Development and Labour, and later Head of the Press Service and Spokesperson for the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Formerly Ambassador of Italy to Algeria, he currently serves as Ambassador of Italy to Austria. In 2019, he was appointed Commendatore dell'Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana.
