Profile

Wendy Hurlburt is a passionate promoter and advocate for the life sciences and technology sectors, and a seasoned professional with broad international experience across Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia. As President and CEO of Life Sciences BC (LSBC), she plays a central leadership role in the province’s dynamic life sciences ecosystem, with a critical focus on collaboration between local SMEs, global partners, educational institutions and multiple levels of government. Wendy is also a highly regarded spokesperson for the sector, attracting new business and investment opportunities to the province.

Prior to joining LSBC in 2019, Wendy held multiple leadership roles with Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in strategic and business planning, finance, partnerships and business development, operational transformation and quality and regulatory compliance. She also previously held roles as the Chief Financial Officer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and Lexmark International in its Canadian and South Asian divisions.

Wendy is also passionate about volunteerism and mentorship; she serves on the Michael Smith Health Research BC Clinical Trials Advisory Council, as a Board Member at Invest Vancouver, on the Industry Advisory Council for UBC’s School of Biomedical Engineering, as a Board Member at Science World, and on the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade’s Government, Budget and Finance Committee. Wendy is also an adjudicator for the Premier’s Innovation and Excellence Awards, serves on the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Life Sciences Strategy Council, and advises on the Public Policy Forum.

Wendy holds an MBA from Queen’s University, a BA from Western University and a Strategic Leadership Certificate from UBC’s Sauder School of Business.
