Reducing your costs at BUILDEX Alberta
We are conscious that every Exhibitor has a different budget, and unexpected costs can be frustrating. So, we have put together the following cost-saving tips to ensure that you stay within budget and have a great show.
1. Pack Light and Hand Carry Your Booth or Display
- Hand carrying (or transport by 2-wheel dolly) your booth display into the venue yourself negates the need for Material Handling or additional labour, thereby avoiding this cost.
2. Bring Your Own and Reuse Items Between Shows
- Purchase your own table and chairs (or borrow them from your office) to use in your booth space and save costs on rentals
- Avoid purchasing or using display items such as banners, tablecloths, print materials and pop-up walls with show-specific dates, booth numbers, and any other information that would prevent you from reusing it from one show to another, or year after year.
- Skip the carpet or bring your own to save on rental costs.
3. Order Ahead and Save on Exhibitor Services
- If you need to rent furniture, electrical, Wi-IFiI etc. order these items before their early bird deadlines to receive the best possible rates! Ordering onsite incurs additional costs; pre-ordering allows you to review your budget and make informed decisions without the time crunch.
- If your booth display is larger and you’re not able to Hand Carry it into the venue, book your Material Handling early! The earlier you book, the better the pricing and avoid waiting to purchase services onsite. Knowing your costs ahead of time saves you from dealing with unexpected bills or costs at the event.
4. How to Maximize Your Investment at BUILDEX
Now you have discovered how to minimize additional exhibition related costs, the following tips will allow you to maximize your investment and realize greater returns at BUILDEX:
- Capture Leads and Attendee Data Using the Included Lead Retrieval Service
- Claim your Free Lead Retrieval Device OR apply the savings to bundle and get 3 devices at a reduced cost.
- The provided Lead Retrieval devices give you complete attendee data (name, job title, company, email, address, etc.) for every badge scanned, available to download in near real time.
- Use your Free Tradeshow Passes for Your Staff, Clients and Prospects
ENSURING RETURN ON INVESTMENT FROM YOUR EXHIBITION EXPERIENCE AT BUILDEX
These 10 tips are designed to help you have a BETTER BUILDEX Alberta Experience while preparing you for the show.
1. Establish Goals & Objectives
“If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.” – Yogi Berra
Determining what you want to get out of BUILDEX Alberta will help you reach your goals and objectives for the show.
Not sure where to start? Your goals should be S.M.A.R.T.
S - Specific
M - Measurable
A - Achievable
R - Realistic
T - Timely
Want to take it 1 Step further?
Have a Pre-show meeting with staff to establish these goals, scheduling and create a game plan together.
Then, instill some friendly competition among your staff. Work together to ensure your exhibit has more impact than your competitor’s!
2. Sell Your Company
Use your company logo; what type of image suits your company? (Quality, high-tech, established, contemporary, sporty, traditional, trendy?)
3. Use Professional and Attractive Graphics & Signage
Graphics need to say:
- Who you are
- What you do
- Benefits of your products/services
Copywriting Guidelines:
- Buyer-focused
- Concise
- Stress one benefit only
- Action-oriented
4. Select the Proper Setting for your Product
Colour can create many involuntary physiological & psychological messages.
- Blue has a calming effect. (Brings text to the foreground and stimulates people to make quick decisions.)
- Red is emotionally charged and hard for the eye to process. Don’t overuse it.
- Yellow is the best attention-grabber.
- Green is positive & calming.
- Orange associated with enthusiasm, fascination, creativity and success.
- Gold, silver & platinum symbolize premium.
- Black represents power.
Lighting accentuates products & creates moods.
5. Invite People to the Show
And tell them where you'll be! Let them know your Booth # and how to find you so they can stop by and say hello. Perfect for prospective or loyal customers.
Ways to encourage visitors are by sending out the free tradeshow passes provided with the Exhibitor Manual, email campaigns or eblasts, text messages, phone campaigns, broadcast fax etc.
We also recommend using our Marketing Tools to promote yourself and your participation in BUILDEX Alberta across your Social Media platforms.
6. Build, Buy or Rent a Backdrop or Enclosure.
Ensures a professional, functional display. Exhibitors are required to have a back wall display in front of the curtains. Your booth represents your business for the duration of the show, you want to make a good first impression. Having a professional backdrop is a great place to start!
Review our Booth Design Guidelines for more insight.
7. Carpet Your Exhibit Space
Colour, quality & type of flooring play a part in the experience you are creating in your booth. Get creative with your flooring, alternatives to carpet are: hardwood, tiles, etc. If you have a product that is used for flooring, or could be used to "carpet" your booth space, use it!
8. Add Greenery to Your Booth
Why you might ask?
Because it can:
- Accentuate graphics
- Hide electrical wiring
- Add life & colour
9. Involve Attendees in Your Display
Moving objects, videos, robots, mannequins, banners & branding will all grab the attention of attendees. Be guided by the image you want to convey.
Want to Take it 1 Step Further?
Plan giveaways and promotions to generate leads. No need for swag, you could opt to give away your own service or product to a handful of qualified leads. For those who don't win? You could offer them a promo code for a discount on future services. One Lead Retrieval Device is included in your Booth Package, so be sure to claim it ahead of the show.
10. Create a Closing Area
Whether it's formal or informal, create a space to invite attendees into.
Furniture: Tables should be used on the sides for displays and not create a barrier between the booth and the aisle. You want to “invite” attendees into your exhibit. Minimize chairs; used for attendees only and create a comfort zone to close those deals.
