Tremendous advances have been made in protecting the construction industry workforce’s physical safety, however mental health remains one of the greatest risks to those on the job site and in the office. Higher incidences of mental health disorders and suicide are well documented in the construction industry, and although change is underway, improvements remain. For contractors and business owners, strong ethical and business cases exist to ensure the well-being of their employees; enabling them to realize their potential, to cope with the stresses of everyday life, and to work productively for their businesses.

A Conversation with Calgary’s Own Corey Hirsch
Corey is a former NHL goaltender and Olympic silver medalist who almost lost everything due to obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). After dealing with his own mental health struggles, Corey has embarked on a mission to open a conversation to help end the stigma around mental health

This by invitation only event provides a welcome breakfast reception, industry networking and keynote address from former NHL goaltender, coach, and Olympic Games Silver Medalist, Corey Hirsch. Corey will share his mental health journey in the hopes of helping others to have the courage to talk about their struggles. Corey’s presentation will give an honest and authentic look into what he experienced: his mental health, his personal tragedies, and several pivotal moments. His story shows that none of us are immune to mental health issues. With his presentation, he hopes to end the stigma that surrounds mental illness.
