Richard specialises in construction and engineering matters, both in the UK and internationally.
He has a particular interest and specialism in renewables, including offshore wind. Recent instructions include six round 3 offshore wind farms in the UK, as well as offshore wind projects in French, Dutch and Danish territorial waters. He has also been engaged on two interconnector projects.
He regularly advises on procurement strategy and all forms of construction documentation, particularly high value complex EPC contracts, including cable T&I EPC contracts (both export and inter-array), foundation T&I EPC contracts, balance of plant EPC contracts, as well as EPCI and other forms of turnkey contracts. Richard is very experienced at drafting, amending and negotiating FIDIC, NEC, JCT, LOGIC, bespoke and associated security documentation.
Richard has worked with all forms of construction dispute resolution including ADR (particularly mediation), statutory and contractual adjudication, dispute boards, arbitration and litigation. He has been a party representative and advocate at regular meetings of a dispute board over a three-year period.
As well as formal disputes, Richard is often asked to act in a project advisory role and he regularly acts in an advisory capacity on renewable projects.
Richard is the Chairman of the UK Adjudication Society and a member of the Society of Construction Law in the UK.
