California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) is an $8.5B grant funding agency created by the people of California in 2004 and re-funded in 2020 to accelerate world class science to deliver transformative regenerative medicine treatments in an equitable manner to a diverse California and world.
Since its launch, CIRM has funded over 1300 projects to accelerate basic stem cell and genetic research and translational development of regenerative medicine therapies, to build strategic translational research infrastructure that supports regenerative medicine R&D, and to support inclusive education and workforce development programs throughout California. CIRM has funded 86 clinical trials for regenerative medicine therapies and has a current active award portfolio of over 177 translational research projects spanning therapeutic discovery through pivotal clinical trials. With always active Discovery, Translational and Clinical Research Funding Opportunities, CIRM is continuously accelerating the discovery and clinical development of stem cell therapies, genetic therapies and regenerative medicine.
