By Lorenzo Mitil
July 10, 2024
Philadelphia, pulsating with history, art, and culinary delights, serves as the perfect backdrop for this year’s Greenbuild International Conference and Expo from November 12-15. Beyond the conference walls, our team invites you to immerse yourself in the essence of Philadelphia. From hidden gems to iconic landmarks, let us guide you through the heart of this dynamic city.
We asked our team for their recommendations on must-visit places in Philadelphia, and here’s what they had to say:
- Sydney Atendido, Sponsorships + Customer Success: "If you like Thai food and have some time to spare, you have to try Kalaya. If you want to just order in, I highly recommend Papermill or KoreaTaqueria, both run by the same person."
- Jeff Stasko, Director of Sales: "Reading Terminal Market!!! Something for everyone. Raw bar to Roast Beef. Tommy DiNic's has the best Roasted Pork Provolone and Broccoli Rabe sandwich I have ever tasted."
- Kacey Anderson, Marketing Director: "While I've never been to Philadelphia, you better believe I'm going to have my Rocky moment at the Philadelphia Museum of Art!"
- Katie Gillham, Event Director: "The Museum of Art is not only home to the Rocky steps, but it also holds a world-renowned collection of art, and the design features inside the building are breathtaking."
- Sherida Sessa, Director, Buildings & Construction Group: "Prior to visiting Philadelphia for Greenbuild planning, I hadn't spent much time in the City since I was a child. I have to say, I am loving Philadelphia more each time I visit. I really enjoyed seeing the historical sites while I was in town recently. We visited the Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall, the Philadelphia Art Museum, and more. I think you'll very much enjoy the Greenbuild Gala location this year - it's stunning! And I highly recommend a double-decker tour of the City if the weather is still warm enough."
- Victoria Love, Lead Ops Manager: "The 'LOVE' sculpture in JFK Plaza is a great photo op. And of course, you have to run up the 'Rocky' steps!"
- Kelly Gutermuth, Business Development Manager: "I love all of the pocket parks that are walkable from the convention center."
Our team only listed a few of the very many places to visit in Philadelphia. Here are a few more that weren't highlighted by our staff but should make your city must-see list:
Enjoy an authentic Philly cheesesteak: No visit to Philadelphia is complete without trying one of the city’s iconic cheesesteaks.
Visit the awesome museums on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway: Philly's most artistic mile offers world-class museums like the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Barnes Foundation.
Longwood Gardens: A botanical garden that is well worth the 50-minute drive from Center City Philadelphia.
Independence Hall: The birthplace of the United States where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed.
Philadelphia Zoo: America’s first zoo, offering a wide variety of animals and interactive exhibits.
We hope these insider tips help you make the most of your time in Philadelphia during Greenbuild 2024. Stay tuned to our social media for more insights and updates from our team. We can’t wait to see you there!
