Greenbuild Volunteers

Each year, Greenbuild selects students and emerging professionals to support the show’s waste diversion goals and application for TRUE Zero Waste for Events certification. In exchange for a total of 8 hours of work in person during the conference, volunteers receive complimentary admission to participate in education sessions, network with industry professionals, and learn about the innovations in green building technology on the Expo floor.

Eligibility requirements:

• Be 18 years or older as of May 31, 2026.
• Be available to participate in a digital orientation in Fall 2026.
• Guarantee attendance at the event in-person Oct. 20-23.
• Work a minimum of eight (8) hours between Oct. 20-23.
• Not be a USGBC, GBCI or Greenbuild staff member, contractor or intern, or hold a volunteer leadership position within USGBC, GBCI or Greenbuild.
• Demonstrate interest in working to advance green building, sustainable communities and social equity with an undergraduate, graduate or career focus that centers around sustainability, health and wellness, resilience and equity.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. Candidates will be contacted in summer 2026 with confirmation of their acceptance or decline in the program and appropriate next steps.

Each year Greenbuild’s volunteer program brings together students and emerging professionals under 30 to help drive our sustainability mission forward. From supporting waste diversion onsite to learning alongside the leaders of the green building movement, volunteers play a vital role in making Greenbuild possible.
