About the Urban Green Gala
Kick off Greenbuild in New York City by joining us for the Urban Green Gala on October 20.
Hosted by Urban Green Council, New York’s leading nonprofit advancing building decarbonization for healthy and resilient communities, this annual celebration brings together premier leaders from across the building industry.
Held at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers with sweeping Hudson River views, the Urban Green Gala offers a distinctive way to spend Greenbuild’s opening night in New York. Meet the architects, developers, policymakers, and industry leaders behind some of the city’s most ambitious buildings over cocktails and dinner. A 30-minute seated program with dessert honors leaders advancing green building, and the open bar continues until 10 pm for more conversation and celebration.
For more than 20 years, Urban Green has helped advance cutting-edge climate action in buildings. The Gala is Urban Green’s signature fundraising event, supporting the research, policy, and programs to decarbonize buildings for healthy and resilient communities.
This year, Urban Green is thrilled to honor Rick Cook, founding partner of COOKFOX Architects, for his contributions to sustainable architecture and his leadership in biophilic design and adaptive reuse. Under his leadership, COOKFOX has designed landmarks including One Bryant Park and, more recently, St. John’s Terminal, the Marymount School of New York, and Betances Residence. The evening also recognizes Linda G. Nelson as this year’s Héctor Figueroa Leadership Awardee. Linda directs the 32BJ Training Fund, which trains more than 25,000 union members each year. 32BJ SEIU is the nation’s largest union of property service workers, including the people who operate, maintain, clean, and secure buildings. Linda’s work helps equip that workforce for a changing building industry.
