Programs for All to Attend
Volunteer at Greenbuild
Each year, Greenbuild selects students and emerging professionals to support the show’s waste diversion goals and application for TRUE Zero Waste for Events certification. In exchange for a total of 8 hours of work in person during the conference, volunteers receive complimentary admission.
Scholarships
USGBC and Greenbuild’s scholarship application for the 2025 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo is now open. The annual scholarship program brings community and sustainability leaders to the table to encourage and empower individuals to transform the way we do business in the building industry.
2024 Sustainability Hub Activations
Greenbuild highlighted what the Philadelphia community is doing to improve it’s city and support those in need. The Sustainability Hub, located on the Expo Floor was where you could help us interact, learn and celebrate local businesses and their efforts!

Lancaster Farm Fresh Co-Op & Share Food Program
Attendees had the opportunity to build fresh food boxes. Boxes were donated to a local community at the end of the event.
Lancaster Farm Fresh Co-Op (LFFC) represents over 100 member farms in the Northeast. Committed to helping our farmers thrive in their vocations and livelihoods. The cooperative model offers farmers the opportunity to coordinate as both growers and decision-makers. As a result, they could earn the most from their products and have the power to shape their collective future. All farmers within the coop grow certified organic vegetables and many farmers also raise small herds and flocks of animals. These animals always have extensive access to pasture and enjoy the freedom of foraging through the grasses with the earth under their feet.
Food boxes will be donated to local Philadelphia area nonprofits
Share Food Program is the leading hunger relief organization in the Greater Philadelphia region and one of the largest independent food banks in the nation. For more than 35 years, feeding families and food justice have been the bedrock of Share’s work. From providing equitable access to free food, to community engagement and volunteerism, from food rescue to urban agriculture and nutrition education — Share remains on the frontlines of fighting hunger.
Clean The World & The Wash Foundation
Attendees had the opportunity to put together hygiene kits. Kits were donated to individuals affected by the recent hurricanes through Clean The World and The Wash Foundation.
Clean The World & The Wash Foundation Clean the World and its foundation were founded in 2009 to address global health issues by using discarded hygiene supplies from the hospitality industry. Aiming to reduce the number of hygiene-related deaths, it began recycling soap into new bars to distribute to communities in need. Today, we’re working toward universal access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and we focus on outcome-based programs to improve the quality of life for vulnerable populations around the world.
Our programs emphasize a local needs-based approach, focusing on education, local ownership and accountability, and community engagement, along with rigorous monitoring and evaluation to gauge progress. Our ultimate goal is to have the programmatic impact sustained locally, without dependence on ongoing aid.
Cradles to Crayons
Attendees had the opportunity to create back-to-school cards and kits. Cards were included in school supply kits for children in Philadelphia living in low-income and homeless situations.
Cradles to Crayons Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive – at home, at school and at play. They supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities. Cradles to Crayons is working to ensure that one day every child will have the essentials they need to feel safe, warm, ready to learn, and valued.
Greening Up Our Host Community
Follow the steps below to bring your most sustainable self to Greenbuild.
Bring Your Reusable Vessel
Filtered water stations will be available throughout the convention center. Don’t forget your coffee cups and if you don’t have them check out reusable travel silverware!
Go Green in Your Hotel Room
Be sure to take advantage of towel and sheet reuse initiatives that may be offered by your hotel. Don’t forget to turn off all lights and electronics when you leave your room each day!
Sustainable Transportation
All the hotels in the room block are within walking distance the convention center. If walking or biking to your destination isn’t an option, check out the Los Angeles public transportation system to get around the city.
Review the Greenbuild Legacy Project
This project addresses the Greenbuild Legacy project criteria through assisting socially-and economically-marginalized communities in safeguarding their health and wellbeing during dangerous situations like power outages and natural disasters.
Think Before You Throw
Waste to landfill results in a significant carbon impact. While we do our very best to reduce the amount of single use disposable items at the event, some are just unavoidable. Do your part by really checking out the waste bins onsite.
There will be a three bin waste system throughout the Los Angeles Convention Center where you can easily throw recyclable materials and compostable materials into clearly marked bins.

Carbon Offset
We know climate change is having serious effects on communities across the world. For the last 10 years, Greenbuild has offset all scope 1, scope 2 and a portion of scope 3 carbon emissions related to the production of the event. How you can participate:
Make sure to purchase your offset when you register (it’s $30 towards healing our planet)!
